Birthday Thoughts
I am 56 today. It was about 45 years ago that I made my first money
repairing a radio for someone. Occasionally, I think the fun and interesting
things in this business are gone.
Then, I attend a meeting like one I was at this week. Motorola showed us
some “coming soon” products and I was left feeling once again that the best
is yet to come.
The merger of IP based networking technology and wireless communications is
going to revolutionize communications. I am glad to be involved in this
transition period. For those who had to get their heads around “solid state”
thinking, you will remember the excitement of seeing the new technology work
its way into our everyday products. The evolution of the PC was a similar
refreshing, new thing to learn and find applications.
That is the way I see IP and wireless. We will start to think of
communications in ways we never imagined.
The next few years are going to be fun.
