Cops and Facebook don’t mix

Typical radio systems designed for voice typically have very limited
bandwidth, because it is not needed to do the job.
Data systems today are no longer able to make users happy with text based
interface. Users demand access to web based resources and this leads to high
bandwidth requirements.
While it might be possible to combine a data device and [...]

helping those who will not help themselves

I know I will probably offend some folks with my comments, but here goes.
First let me say that I have been successful several times over the past 25
years winning grants from Federal, State and even commercial sources (yes,
some corporations have grants to support local public service).
What I have never been able to understand is why [...]

Keep things in perspective

The recent forced sale of Bear Stearns to J. P. Morgan, while spooking the markets initially, seems to have been the pressure valve that was needed. Market tensions had wound tightly wondering how the crisis would eventually pop the cork. This brutal, controlled uncorking seems to have eased pressures. The Fed’s Uncle Ben has shown [...]

The Gospel According to the Son

I have just finished reading The Gospel According to the Son, by Norman Mailer. I was drawn to the novel after seeing recently deceased Mailer interviewed on a Charlie Rose TV program repeat.
Mailer, a Jew, wrote the 256 page book from the perspective of Jesus of Nazareth. While a work of fiction, based on the [...]

corruption and hope

One thing my Mother taught me was, when you do something wrong, you will always eventually have to pay a price for it. Mom was right.
Just as Governors and Presidents who are unfaithful get caught, so do the unethical, irresponsible, greedy leaders of financial organizations.
We have seen CEOs of some of the most prestigious financial [...]

I love my cell phone and Thinkorswim

While my wife and my youngest daughter keep pointing out all the wonderful features of their iPhones, I still prefer my HTC Wizard (a.k.a. T mobile MDA), A few months ago I decided I needed the services of a stock broker that could provide me advanced features and services not available from Scottrade. I am [...]

Another tip of the hat to Nextel

In a previous article I gave a “Hats Off” to the genius of the Nextel folks. Now we see that their biggest spark of genius was probably selling the thing to Sprint. Apparently the geniuses saw the handwriting on the wall, but the Sprint folks bought the best sales job Nextel ever did. Now [...]

Wireless trading is better with Windows Mobile

A few months ago I upgraded to an unlocked Tmobile MDA. The Internet Explorer browser and larger screen are a big improvement over the Motorola V505 I was using.
The MDA also has a slide out QWERTY keyboard which makes data entry much easier.
The included Excel is very handy for creating spreadsheets.
Charts are available from several [...]

Suncom update

My Suncom experience seems to be getting better. I recently traveled to Seattle and had no problems roaming with voice or data.
The only complaint I currently have is an inability to get MMS to work from my MDA phone.
Browsing the web seems to work just fine.
